Gangtok:15th May: CM PS Tamang has responded to PM Narendra Modi’s call to cut down on certain things,including Fuel -Petrol , Diesel,LPG ,Cooking Oil and avoiding purchase of Gold with certain orher items .CM scheduled to attend a programme at Manan Kendra ,here today as the Chief Guest walked down to the venue.He was accompanied by his wife Krishna Rai from Mintogang to Manan Kendra followed by all others in keeping with the protocol.
CM Tamang has said ,’In response to the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to adopt austerity measures and promote responsible governance,I walked from Mintokgang to Manan Kendra today to attend an official function. Through this small gesture, I wish to encourage the efficient use of Government resources, moderation in fuel consumption, and a culture of fitness and sustainability among Government officials and institutions. Walking not only conserves resources but also contributes towards a fitter, healthier, and happier Sikkim.’
Earlier,a notification has been issued for cutting down on use of vehicle fuel , work from home by turns in Govt offices, using pool vehicles.
The step taken by Govt is likely to decongest
the internal roads,it will discourage plying Govt vehicles to Schools, to Vegetable market, ,restaurants and upto main market for slimming Walks.@ PS TamangCM # Petrol consumption.
