Women Power Worship Act: Rights of Rights-
There are days in the life of any nation, that only turn the calendar pages but there are some days that change the direction of history. “Nari Shakti Vandan Act” has been formally implemented from today. I consider this not only a legal achievement but a new awakening of our civilization and a new dimension of history. To more deeply understand the importance of this moment, we must look back at the beginning times of modern democracy.
Even in many of the most developed countries of the world, women had to struggle hard for decades just to get the right to vote. But the story of our country is basically different. It is our unbreakable culture to worship women as goddesses. Because of this ritual, our republic has completely trusted women from the beginning and ensured equal franchise since the first election. Although, an irony remained in our country. Indian women had the right to vote but their presence was extremely low in decision-making places. Women’s reservation bill repeatedly became the victim of political gimmicks. First introduced as the 81st Amendment Bill in 1996, tried to advance this bill in 1989, 1999, 2003 and passed in Rajya Sabha in 2010 but could not move forward from there.
For nearly three decades, this bill was repeatedly presented, discussed and later threatened. The bill didn’t come to conclusion due to the lack of moral courage and political willpower. This historical act passed in 2023 is not a coincidence that will be implemented from today. This is the proof of the moral leadership and strong political willpower of Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Her powerful leadership has become the first decade of the golden age for all Indian women.
The trust shown by the country towards this law was not built overnight. The foundation of this is built by folding each brick through the important campaigns of the Honorable Prime Minister. Millions of toilets were built under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, this initiative protected women’s dignity and self-esteem. He rescued mothers from smoke-filled kitchen through a brilliant plan. Similarly, the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign changed the thinking of society towards daughter and the currency scheme transformed limited housewives into entrepreneurs.
Women are struggling to gain and protect their basic rights, even in many of the most developed democracy in the world today. However, in our country, women are being dignified with the highest right to government. If franchise was the morning of our democracy, then women power worship act is the sun of noon. This is what I consider fitting to call the “right to the rights”. This will be the root of all rights. This ensures women their reasonable and undisputed position at the country’s highest decision-making level. There will be no exaggeration when comparing the historical importance of this moment with the Seneca Falls Conference in India. But, there’s a very important difference in this. What’s that, we’ve achieved this achievement through mutual consent.
The progress of our state is unbrokenly linked to the prosperity of our women, this truth we have always been embracing. Closely following the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister, our state government has been implementing the women centered programs of the central government very sincerely. In addition to this, we have also pushed forward the state’s own special plans with these programs aimed at providing protection and empowering Sikkimeli women from birth to old age.
Women of Sikkim have realized the loyalty of Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. So they expressed their enthusiastic and clear support towards the Nari Shakti Vandan Act by organizing the historic “Sikkim Women’s Rally” today. In the history of Sikkim, it is rare incident where women unite with the same purpose and firm enthusiasm and support any act. Today’s grand rally is a festival of law, which will prove to be the new highway of both India and Sikkim politics.
History is considered as a harsh judge. It rarely remembers those who take power but always immortal those who utilize their power to uplift others. On the pages of history, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be remembered as not just a leader of a nation, but a strong side of women.
Lord Krishna always stand firm in the side of the dignity of women. He played the role of a great chariot in keeping the voices of women at the center while establishing religion. Just like that today Hon’ble Prime Minister Modiji has also played the role of a great leader in moving women forward.
What our modern republic has legally recognized today is something our ancient tradition has understood and believed for ages. One of our timeless quotes declares this: Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Ramante Tatra Devta: (Where women are respected, god dwells). Women Shakti Vandan Act has raised the soul of India even higher. The honor of women is the honor of the nation and the empowerment of women is the empowerment of the nation. From today, Indian women are not the only “silent power” to block the nation from behind. From today they have become the “guiding voice” that guides this nation.
