Gangtok, The 17th Common Review Mission (CRM) debriefing under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, was held today at Gangtok.
As part of the CRM exercise, teams from the Ministry visited two districts of Sikkim — Mangan District and Soreng District — to undertake a rapid assessment of the functional status of various health programmes being implemented under the National Health Mission (NHM). The objective of the visit was to review the effectiveness of ongoing health initiatives and to identify key factors and challenges influencing their implementation at the grassroots level.
The CRM delegation was divided into two teams for the district visits.
The CRM teams were briefed by the State Health Department prior to the commencement of the district visits. The field visits and programme reviews were conducted from November 1 to November 7, 2025. During the visit, the teams interacted with district and block health officials, healthcare providers, and community representatives to assess the status of key health indicators and the performance of NHM interventions in maternal health, child health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, health system strengthening, CP-CPHC, HR, IEC, AYUSH etc The final debriefing was chaired by Shri Tshewang Gyachho, IAS, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim in the honorable presence of Ms. Meera Srivastava, Joint Secretary (RCH), MoHFW, Government of India.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Health Department, Chief Medical Officers of both districts, and all State and District Nodal Officers of the various National Health Programmes.
The session concluded with a comprehensive discussion on the findings and recommendations of the CRM teams. The insights shared during the debriefing are expected to guide further improvements in health service delivery, strengthen the implementation of NHM programmes, and contribute to better health outcomes across the State of Sikkim.
