Gangtok,17th August: Sikkim Governor OP Mathur figures among certain other Governors and Lieutenant Governors as contenders for the post of Vice President of India.
The post has fallen vacant due to resignation of earlier Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on 21st July 2025.
Other names surfaced so far include,Arif M Khan Governor of Bihar,Acharya Dev Vrat Governor of Gujrat,Thawar Chand Gehlot Governor of Karnataka,VK Saksena Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Manoj Sinha -Lieut.Governor of Jammu & Kashmir.
Election to the post of Vice President of India will take place on 9th September ,it is to be contended by final nominees.
