Gangtok:23rd Jan:Suptt of Police ,M Subba, Gangtok,addressing media here today stated, ‘ A 58 years old man has been taken into custody by Police after receiving a complaint. The victim & family lodged FIR, subsequently the accused a resident of Samdur ,has been nabbed for impersonating as a Vigilance police officer and extortion of money.’
‘As reported he extorted Rs 3.5 Lakhs from the victim.The victim made two suicide. attempts.Later was missing due to constant threatening by the accused over phone, Involving him in a 28 years old case of death.3 days back his son saw him in a Temple and brought him home.And was told about the whole thing,’ said SP.
According to SP a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act.Investigation (by C Lachungpa ) is going on.The accused has a crime history of having sexually assaulted someone, also in the past.’
The Police wants to ensure justice.
