Gangtok:22nd Jan: A 58 years old resident of Samdur, has been taken into custody by Police. He has been charged with impersonation and extortion. The accused is alleged to have posed as a Vigilance officer, threatened someone blaming the man for unnatural death of a person and in the process extorted Rs 3.50 Lakhs.Due to continued threats the man fled away and was missing from Sikkim since August ’25.But He was traced and brought home and is now with his family.
In the meantime Ranipool Police| has registered case U/S 204 to 308 to 318,319 and 351 of BN Sanhita read with section 66 D of Information Technology Act ’08.Investigation is going on .Police is also looking into more such reported crimes ,if at all by the accused.@ Sikkim Police@ Ranipool PS# Fraudster # extortion.
