Gangtok,1st July: All the pilgrims of First batch to Kailash – Mansarover,expected to reach by 9am on Tuesday arrived by 4.48 pm.After the hectic day they were still happy to participate in the programme arranged for the STDC.
One of the male pilgrims sharing his experience said, ‘ As most of the pilgrims were of young age they did not appreciate the acclimatisation at Sherathang before leaving.But subsequently on reaching Darchen when they saw certain persons backing out of the holy journey due to sickness – bad health,they realised that acclimatisation was just essential part of the pilgrimage.
‘ Looking at Mt Kailash felt a connect with the God!We decided to avoid hiring porters and ponies,but liaison officer suggested using them to avoid any risk.Arrangements by ITBP,STDC and China were good.We were pampered like anything by Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation and Chinese.We thank all those who were involved in making our pilgrimage a success right from the beginning when we got ourselves registered.And External Affairs Ministry for briefing before our departure from Delhi.’
However this year 5 batches are scheduled to go via Nathula border to K-M.
