Gangtok,17th Dec: Public Health and Engineering Deptt,in order to provide drinking water to every citizen and ensure scientific billing got a Govt legislation unanimously passed.
According to the authorities ‘It is also expected to discourage misuse of public assets and penslise when required. ‘
‘With increasing population and increased demand there is need to provide reasonable distribution of water to the Citizens’, stated Minister Sonam Lama,PHE about the objectives of the bill.
This bill will replace the related Ordinance promulgated by Governor in September due to urgency ,when the Assembly was not in session.
Observers feel it is a good step only if water supply could be regulated as it
is already beyond carrying capacity of the town.
