
Veteran Mountaineers of Sikkim Reach Namche Bazaar After Trek from Phakding
Namche Bazaar, Nepal – October 9, 2025: The Veteran Mountaineers of Sikkim team arrived at Namche Bazaar, a renowned Himalayan settlement in Nepal’s Khumbu region, today after a nine-hour trek from Phakding. Situated at an altitude of 3,440 meters (11,286 feet), Namche Bazaar is a key stopover for trekkers and climbers en route to Everest Base Camp. The team landed in Lukla yesterday and trekked five hours to reach Phakding, where they rested overnight. Starting their journey at 6 AM today, the mountaineers reached Namche Bazaar by 3:40 PM.
Located in Solukhumbu District, Namche Bazaar is a cultural and commercial hub dominated by the Sherpa community. Known for its stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, and other peaks, it offers hotels, restaurants, shops, and internet cafes for trekkers’ convenience. The area is also celebrated for its biodiversity and serene environment.
The team will rest here tonight before continuing their expedition tomorrow.
