Gangtok:20th Dec:SLBC Sikkim Launches “Unclaimed Assets and Deposits” Programme at Gangtok for Soreng, Geyzing, Namchi, Pakyong, and Mangan Districts
As a part of Government of India’s nationwide campaign titled “आपकी पूँजी, आपका अधिकार — Your Money, Your Right”, the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Sikkim successfully launched the “Unclaimed Assets and Deposits” programme today at Gangtok for Soreng, Geyzing, Namchi, Pakyong, and Mangan districts.
The initiative aims to facilitate the settlement of unclaimed financial assets, including bank deposits, insurance, dividends, shares, mutual fund and pension, to their legitimate claimants. through coordinated efforts of all banks operating in the state.
The programme was launched in the presence of Rajendra Sharma, Secretary, Finance, GoS, Goda Ravi Shanker, GM, RBI, Gangtok, Teekam Singh Gehlot, GM SBI cum SLBC Convenor, and GM NABARD.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Gopal Lama, AGM, SLBC Sikkim, followed by the presentation of the achievement of Deaf accounts settlements as on date – 202 Nos of accounts have been settled amounting to Rs.65 lakhs.
Delivering the keynote address, the GM, RBI, urged all banks to organise camps in all districts and operate in campaign mode to maximise outreach and ensure timely settlement of unclaimed deposits.
The GM, NABARD, stressed the importance of collective responsibility among all financial institutions to ensure that no legitimate funds remain unclaimed in the state.
The Campaign, launched on 4th October 2025, is built on the 3A Framework — Awareness, Accessibility, and Action. The three-month drive (October–December 2025) is being implemented across every State and Union Territory of the nation, and to maximize the outreach during the campaign, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and awareness material in major regional languages—along with short video messages—have been widely disseminated.
In Sikkim, the campaign was launched on November 14, 2025, for Gangtok district and is now being extended to the other five districts.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Kallol Bhattacharya, CM, SLBC, with a strong reaffirmation of commitment from SLBC Sikkim and all participating banks to work in close coordination for the successful implementation of this important initiative across the state, as per communique received.
