
Gangtok,26th July : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sikkim unit observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at state office here ,honoring the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1999 Kargil War. The event, presided over by State Vice President ,Dinesh Chandra Nepal, was attended by party executives and karyakartas who observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
District President ,Pempo Dorjee Lepcha welcomed the gathering and outlined the significance of the occasion, emphasizing the valor and dedication of India’s armed forces.
The keynote address was delivered by Media Incharge ,Niren Bhandari, who highlighted key aspects of the Kargil War and the success of Operation Vijay. He also shed light on transformative advancements in India’s defense sector under the Modi government. Bhandari underscored the government’s focus on self-reliance through initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat,’ boosting indigenous defense production with systems like Akash and BrahMos missiles. Key reforms such as the Agnipath Scheme, One Rank One Pension (OROP), and the establishment of the Department of Military Affairs were noted for enhancing military efficiency and morale. Additionally, women’s empowerment in the forces and strategic partnerships with private sectors were emphasized as steps toward innovation in defense.
The event reaffirmed BJP Sikkim’s commitment to honoring the sacrifice of India’s soldiers and supporting the nation’s journey toward a robust, self-reliant defense ecosystem.
