Gangtok 6th Dec: CAP–Sikkim,visited office of the Chief Election Officer,Election Deptt here. and demanded that the Sikkim Subject Certificate (SSC) and Certificate of Identification (COI), be formally included in the list of indicative documents for the SIR in Sikkim. The leaders emphasised that these documents hold special legal and historical significance for the state and must be considered alongside the documents already notified by the Commission.
The party further urged the Election authorities toto take special care and sensitivity while implementing the SIR process in Sikkim, in view of the unique constitutional provisions that protect the rights and identity of the people of the state.
Additionally, CAP–Sikkim requested the CEO Office to conduct wider public awareness campaigns across the state so that citizens are fully informed about the Special Intensive Review process, its purpose, and the procedures involved. The party stressed that greater public awareness will ensure better participation and a more transparent enrolment process.
