Gangtok:23rd March:State Election Commission,Sikkim is all prepared to hold Municipal & Nagar Panchayat Elections on 24th April’26.
This year the election commission here is going Technology savy.’ Instead of gunny bags for packing election material now we are going to use carry bags All the bags will be affixed QR code and colour , ward /distt wise respectively. It will avoid anyone carrying other distt bag . Gangtok will have Lemon yellow , Namchi – Green Paktong – Violet and like this all others will have different colour. Each Polling stayion has been given Unique Identity code The nodal officer of each distt will join SEC’s nodal officer for packing’,said State Election Commissioner KC Lepcha here.
According to him,’ Sikkim is getting EVMs from Madhya Pradesh . Only technical verification is being done. The advantage of this is data can not be changed or hacked,’he added citing example of calculators where you cant change data.
Commissioner Lepcha had appealed to the First Time Voters to ensure excercising their democratic right to cast vote, ‘ Your vote is to shape our future system.’ he said . And he has also appealed to one and all for it. ‘ We want every voter to cast vote’. Hospitalized and sick at home will be allowed to vote from home provided they have certificate to that effect PWD and Old will be peovided wheel chairs, shed to sit rest. Water- Toulet arrangements would be there Even special taxies so that they stop when you ask for (hiring one).
At last process begins on Tuesday, 24th March and ends with Result on twenty fifth April and Counting in between on twenty firth itself.
