Sikkim needs to have a Film Policy: Film Makers
Gangtok:21st March: Sikkim International Film Festival Market, was marked by sessions on different themes , for the film makers
‘ International co-production with North East India was discussed by Ronn Edward Runa from Embassy of Philipines, Secretary IPR Annapurna Alley ,Actor Tshering Dolkar Bhutan and Kinley Eudruma Tenzin ,Bhutan. It was moderated by Film Producer Nitesh Rohit , Founder NR group. Bhutanese Actor Dolkar said co- production opportunities were possible due to cultural similarity between Bhutan and Sikkim and whole NER. Philipines was pisitive lest the entry rules were made easier.
Secretary Press to CM Y Tamang moderated the session on Acrors Craft Conversation,with actor cum producer ,from Kerala Bhawana Menon.Menon said one needs to have passion for acting , films etc. She started when only 15 years old , her father being Cameraman for Films. She expressed hope that Sikkim becomes a great film Industry State in future
YTamang said CM PS Tamang is teying for Nepali Film Certification Board.And took an opportunity to thank him.
The session with Film producers from Nepal and Arunachal Pradesh focused on Bridging borders : NE ,Nepal & Sikkim Film Industry, was moderated by Awardee Film Makers Tribeni Rai . While the challenges faced by Nepali movei makers in Nepal were highlighted Nepali awardee director Nabin Subba , stressed on a policy decisions for films He said incoming Nepal Govt will see a this issue. He also said a treaty is required to be concluded for the same. And in future the movies from this region would be supported , he said it amidst huge applause from hill movie makers , though a very few present.
The audience cpuld watch ‘ Domo Ko Chahari’by Sujan Lamjel ( Darjeeling ) winner of short film competition, of SIFF . And kudus it was his World Premiere!
