Sikkim Indigenous Lepcha Tribal Association bestows ‘Kongchen Dorjee ‘ Award to former Minister Tseten Tashi Bhutia
Gangtok:16th Nov :Former Minister Tseten Tashi Bhutia,Convenor SIBLAC ,was presented Kongchen Dorjee’award by the SILTA led by Mayalmit Lepcha.The award ceremony was held in an unprecedented congenial atmosphere ,where all the political parties were represented in a very apolitical manner.
The award has been given in recognition of Bhutia’s ‘ exemplary services’.Renowned Shaman from North Sikkim,did the honour by presenting the Lepcha Hat,traditional costume and a medal.He performed ritual to complete the ceremony.
Awardee Bhutia, accompanied by his spouse Chumki Lhamu participated in lighting lamps followed by other leaders present. And thanked the organisers for the recognition.
Speaking on the occasion Tseten Tashi admitting it wasnt a time to discuss different issues said at least 3 Important matters need to be addressed.’Rights of Sikkimese still to be accessed through legislative assembly ,where those are pending.Party ( SKM) in power has to see those as per the Constitution.For example Limbu – Tamang( seat reservation in SLA).
About Special Intensive Revision( SIR) he said ‘ It is a big issue for us You need to object to fake -illegal Voters as per Constitution to make our future secure.So much influx is there .No of influx is there Govt needs to be looking into it Better only Sikkim Subject and Certificate of Identification holders (progeny of S Subject Certificate holders) cast Votes. He asked all to remain united.
President of SILTA Mayalmit earlier welcomed the guests.And all the achievements of Tseten Tashi were read out to the gathering in Lepcha language and English.
