
National Engineers Day:CM Announces Restricted Holiday next 15th Sept onwards
Gangtok,15th September : Sikkim Engineers celebrated State level National Engineers Day here at Manan Kendra ,today.Chief Minister PS Tamang was the Chief Guest,on the NED observing the birth anniversary of Sir Visvesvaraya ,one of the greatest Engineers of India.At the programme organised by the Retired Engineers Association (Civil) joined by Inservice State Engineers ( Civil),Minister NB Dahal, Minister GT Dhungel and Norbu Tsering Lamtha accompanied CM with other Legislators.
CM Tamang was pleased to announce a restricted holiday from next year onwards on the National Engineers Day,with huge applause by the concerned.
In response to the demand for bringing the retirement age of Engineers at par with IAS officers ,raised by Chewang Bhutia,on behalf of the association,CM said he will be discussing it and he feels that it should be good to have experienced personnel for a longer time,it was discussed earlier also ,but it is yet to be debated. The younger ones should not think that it would block their avenues.
CM also announced that many regular posts were about to be opened,but everyone should work in the interest of State and Nation.
The JE will be inducted in the cadre, as one time relaxation, subject to the condition that they have completed 6 years or more in service.
CM praised the technocrats -engineers as they can share any responsibility while Civil Servants cant do technical -engineering duties.
CM was felicitated by the Engineers,He felicitated 13 retired Engineers and contractors for their contributions to the State.
