Politician Pooja Sharma Represents North-East India at WAVES 2025 Summit by NFDC, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. Of India at Mumbai on a Panel on Soft Power Cultural Diplomacy.
Smt. Pooja Sharma, BJP woman leader a distinguished cultural diplomacy advocate from the North- East India, and a prominent face of Sikkim’s politics participated as a panellist in the session titled ‘Redefining Soft Power: States Using Cinema as Cultural Diplomacy’ at the prestigious World Audio-Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 by Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. Of India, in Mumbai. She emphasized the region’s unique storytelling traditions and the role of film tourism in enhancing India’s cultural diplomacy.
The summit was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The event also witnessed the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and the Hon’ble Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw , various states Chief Ministers and some prominent superstar celebrities like Rajnikant, Shakrukh Khan , Akshaykumar, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Mohan Lal, Chiranjeevi of the Bollywood and entire Indian cinema fraternity and business entertainment industry all across the World.
Smt. Sharma highlighted the North-East’s rich tapestry of myths, landscapes, and indigenous cultures as a wellspring for compelling cinematic narratives. She advocated for increased national and international collaboration to promote the region as a nature-intensive, story-rich film destination, positioning it as a bridge between local heritage and global audiences.
