
Gangtok:2nd Oct:Gandhi Jyanti celebrations in here today had presence of Governor OP Mathur and Chief Minister PS Tamang ,joined by MP Lok Sabha Indra Hang Subba and other dignitaries.They paid rich floral tributes at the statue of Father of the Nation and traditional khadas( scarves) .
The most attractive part of the programme focusing on Cleanliness, included awards for Waste Management competition winners from Schools and Colleges,Movie making on Waste Management( inter -school),Best performing Safai Karamcharis from Urban Local Bodies and Best performing Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Chief Minister,Tamang,shared his opinion about Mohan das Karamchand Gandhi and his principles.He said, ‘On this Gandhi Jayanti, we joyfully celebrate the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, whose message of truth, non-violence, and simplicity continues to inspire generations.’
