
- As part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim organized a Tiranga Rally today (Aug 11, 2025). The rally commenced from the institute’s campus and proceeded to the NH-510 bypass near the Below SDM office in Ravangla, celebrating the spirit of patriotism ahead of India’s 79th Independence Day.
In continuation of this patriotic fervor, the Government of India has declared the nationwide celebration of Har Ghar Tiranga 2025 from August 2-15, 2025. NIT Sikkim remains deeply committed to implementing the government’s flagship programs and events with utmost dedication.
The rally aimed to foster national pride and unity among students, faculty, and staff. It was flagged off by Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, Director of NIT Sikkim, in the esteemed presence of Lieutenant Madhav Sharma of the 39 Field Regiment, Ravangla, along with Registrars, Deans, and Heads of Departments.
Over 400 participants carried the national flag and chanted patriotic slogans, marching through the institute’s campus in a coordinated display of national unity.
Following the rally, Prof. Govil delivered an inspiring speech underscoring the symbolic significance of the tricolor flag as a tribute to the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. He urged the youth to uphold the legacy of India’s sovereignty and integrity to the highest standard.
Col. Subhojit De, Commanding Officer of the 39 Field Regiment, highlighted the critical role of coordination among defense systems during Operation Sindoor. He also provided insights into the advanced technology and equipment employed by the Indian Armed Forces to effectively address such challenges.
To further commemorate the 79th Independence Day, the institute will conduct a series of programs throughout the week, fueling the spirit of patriotism across the campus.
