Dehradun:21st Feb: MP Raju Bista Visited the “Gorkha Himalayan Festival 2026” organized by Shaheed Durga Malla Memorial Trust, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. MP said he ‘ Grand and attractive performances from Gorkha, Garhwali, Kumauni, Jaunsari cultural artists, singers/singers, dancers, craftsmen from different parts of the country are being performed here along with exclusive cuisine, costumes etc from the Himalayan region.’
‘This event gave me the opportunity to revisit the Uttarakhand brave land carrying the glorious and struggling history of the Gorkha community. Had the privilege of laying the soil of the birthplace of our Gorkha heroes who sacrificed their lives for their motherland after their independence, including martyr Major Durga Mallajiu, who was hanged for Indian independence.’
‘Dehradun has also contributed significantly in the field of Gorkha language, literature, culture, science and technology. Dehradun has played an important role in tying the Gorkha community across India in one formula and I think unity is our greatest strength. When Gorkhas stand together, we can overcome any challenge with collective perseverance. We must embrace diversity within our community, and from Darjeeling to Dehradun and Dharmshala, we must stand united.’
‘The current generation of Gorkha’s introducing their vast heart and pledge to identify and universify the rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, language, literature, culture and heritage of the entire Himalayan region, it is truly worthwhile to organize such a grand and huge ‘Gorkha Himalayan Festival’. I congratulate Shaheed Durga Malla Memorial Trust, Dehradun for organizing this grand festival, ‘ added Bista.
