Gangtok/ Darjeeling : 15th March: MP Darjeeling Raju Bista,happily had ‘fulfilled the commitment of building homes for 10 Teesta Flood affected families in Rangpo, Bhalukhola, Tarkhola, Teesta, and Bangey Bazar.’
‘The 2023 Teesta floods had shattered lives, sweeping away homes and livelihoods of hundreds of families from the entire Teesta belt.
MP said he had pledged to rebuild at least 10 homes from his own salary for those who lost everything.’
‘ Today by the grace of almighty, I have been able to fulfill that commitment, and handover these newly constructed climate resilient homes to these 10 families,’ said MP Bista.
Beneficiaries include:
1. Smt. Sangita Chhetri, Bangey Bazar, 27 Mile.
2. Smt. Chandramaya Darnal, Teesta Bazar.
3. Smt. Meena Sarki, Teesta Bazar.
4. Sh. Gyan Tshering Lepcha, Malli-Bhalu Khola.
5. Sh. Jiten Thapa, Malli-Bhalu Khola.
6. Sh. Şanil Subba, Torkhola
7. Sh. DB Subba, Torkhola.
8. Ms. Rajkumari, Rangpoo.
9. Sh. Jagdish Shah, Rangpoo.
10. Sh. Nouraj Rai, Rangpoo.
‘These homes represent more than a shelter, they symbolize dignity and stability for these families. This will go a long-way in helping them rebuild their lives step by step.’
MP Bista ,is further supporting 12 landslide affected families in Fedi Khola and Fencheytar areas under Rimbick-Lodhoma samsty, whose homes had been destroyed due to the October 2025 landslides.
