Demands for Grants for Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare
New Delhi: Member of Parliament, Indra Hang Subba,( Lok Sabha )supported the Demands for Grants for the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare,today highlighting key concerns and priorities for strengthening the agricultural sector, particularly in hilly regions.
Despite limited time allotted for the discussion,MP Subba put forth several important suggestions aimed at improving agricultural productivity and sustainability. He urged the concerned Minister to enhance budgetary allocation for agricultural research and education to drive innovation and capacity building in the sector.
Emphasising the unique challenges faced by farmers in hill states, Subba called for the inclusion of watershed development initiatives to rejuvenate spring water sources, which are crucial for irrigation in such regions. He also stressed the need to expand the number of organic bio-resource centres across the country to promote sustainable and organic farming practices.
Further, MP Subba raised the issue of crop damage caused by wildlife and requested that such losses be included under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), so as to provide much-needed relief and security to farmers.
Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of farmers, MP Subba emphasised the importance of inclusive and region-specific policies to ensure sustainable agricultural growth and resilience across the nation.
