Gangtok: Darj:13th Dec: MP Darjeeling Raju Bista inaugurated the first edition of the “Sansad Khel Mahotsav”,on Saturday. The event organised by Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency,was held at Naxalbari Birsa Munda ground.
Large-scale funding has been provided for Khelo India, the Sports Authority of India, and National Sports Federations. Additionally, hundreds of new sports infrastructure projects are being constructed.
‘Athletes from our Darjeeling Hills, Terai, and Dooars region have a proud tradition of discipline, courage, and sporting excellence. The region has produced renowned athletes such as Richa Ghosh, Crispin Chettri, Montu Ghosh, Swapna Barman, Anju Tamang, and others’,added Bista.
MP Raju Bista has expressed hope, that the “Sansad Khel Mahotsav” will play a vital platform to identify, nurture, and showcase local talents. From December 13 to 25, competitions will be held in sports including Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Karate, Yogasana, Badminton, and Table Tennis. Those athletes who perform good at this level, will get an opportunity to showcase their talents at regional, state, national and international levels,’ said Bista.
