Press Information Bureau of Sikkim,hosted an enlightening Workshop for media, at Gangtok, today.
The inaugural session was Presided over by the Chief Guest Kripa Shankar Yadav,Additional Zonal DG PIB, Guwahati ,Assam .He was joined by Dr.Rajib Gogoi,Head Botanical Survey of India ,Sikkim and Neeraj Kumar Pandey ,Cluster Head Doordarshan and AIR Gangtok.
Chief Guest KS Yadav in his inaugural address,stressed on the ways and means to avoid Fake News.He said earlier it was discussed but not institutionalised.He highlighted the initiative taken by PIB during the recent Indo- Pak struggle.’ During that time PIB was fact checking and outreaching the facts to media.The responsibility of media is increasing in this field.’
Yadav ,said media needs to check facts before putting the information out for readers.
Dr Rajib Gogoi brought home to gathering the need of the hour due to Global Warming He talked about Climate Change, Afforestation and cleanliness .

During the inaugural session AIR Gangtok – News Reader cum Nepali programme executive Usha Sharma was offered khada as she would be retiring from service soon.
The inaugural session was followed by 3 technical sessions Panelists including Secretary Tourism, Secretary IPR,Political Secretary to CM cum media coordinator,Editor Sikkim Express,ADG,Zonal ,Guwahati.
