
Sikkim Gears Up to Host Jhoom International Talent Hunt Show for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
Sikkim is all set to host the Jhoom International Talent Hunt Show for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) this November, marking a proud moment for the state as it welcomes participants from across India, Nepal, and Bhutan for this unique and inclusive event.
A coordination meeting to plan and execute the event was held on October 14 at SICUN, Assam Lingzey, bringing together key stakeholders, organizers, and representatives from supporting organizations. The meeting outlined the logistics, management, and execution framework to ensure the smooth conduct of the grand event.
The Jhoom International Talent Hunt Show, organised by Shantidham Foundation, a non-profit voluntary organization based in Bhubaneswar, has earned global recognition as the first-of-its-kind platform in India that celebrates the diverse abilities and talents of Persons with Disabilities. Participants showcase their exceptional skills across multiple categories, including dance, singing, speed painting, acting, mimicry, anchoring, and more. This year, the foundation has chosen Sikkim as the host state for the prestigious event.
In Sikkim, the event is being organised in collaboration with the SKM Social Service Wing and Sarathi NGO, with the support of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN). The show will be held under the chief patronage of Shadev Sharma, SKM Youth Vice President, and the patronage of Phurba Rinzing Sherpa, Chairman of the Health Department,says Ranjana Pradhan,SKM
The coordination meeting was chaired by Dr. Mangaljit Rai, Chairperson of SICUN, and attended by prominent officials and representatives, including Pawan Parsai, Coordinator NHPC; Bishal Sharma, Additional Political Secretary to HCM; Yougan Tamang, Press Secretary to HCM; Gagan Gurung, OSD; Hari Rizal, OSD to MLA; Durga P Pradhan, Commissioner North East, India, Nepal, and Bhutan (Shantidham Foundation); Jigmee Wanchuk, CLC Namcheybong; representatives of SKM Social Service Wing; Dorjee Bhutia, Youth Convenor, Namcheybong; representatives of CRC Sikkim and Sarathi NGO; and Subham Peter Gazmer, Volunteer Representative.
The meeting concluded with the formation of the Organising Committee and the creation of various planning and management teams, with clearly defined responsibilities for all stakeholders.
It was also announced that the auditions for participants from Sikkim, other Northeastern states, Nepal, and Bhutan will be held on November 5 and 6 at the SICUN Conference Hall. The grand finale will be held at Gangtok on November 09,according to Ranjana Pradhan,President,President Press and Publicity.
With collective efforts and strong coordination among the organising bodies, Sikkim is poised to host an inspiring and inclusive celebration of talent, resilience, and diversity reinforcing the spirit of empowerment and equality for Persons with Disabilities.
