Gangtok:6th March: My Bharat & Sports & Youth Affairs Deptt Govt of Sikkim, have joined together to host ASMITA League -26 on 8th March’26’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day.Mangal Jhaker, Dy Director ,My Bharat announced it here, today in a Curtain Raiser. He was joined by Jount Director Incharge Jigme Bhutia S& Y Deptt.
‘The event is being organised in 250 districts as identified across the country by Union Minstry of Sports .In Sikkim it will be organised in all the 5 districts as a micro event and in( 6th )Geyzing District it will be a mega event. It being an Aspirational Distt.’,said M. Jhaker.
‘ The Sports event will have 3 age categories, Under 13 years of age, 13-18 , 18 and above. The competition: 100 ,200 and 300 meters race
JD Technical State Sports Deptt Jigmes ,appealed to’ all the Women and School going Girls also to participate in the IWD- ASMITA Event and contriyto development of Sports Culture in Sikkim.’ .
Jigme said in Geyzing the mega event will be held under the supervision of Additional Director ,at Pelling Sr Secondary School as the Kyongsa ground is under renovation.Gangtok – Reshithang.
Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action ( ASMITA ) is an initiative of MoS ,wirh present edition.It was announced by Union Minister of State for Y& S Affairs,Raksha Khapadse for International Women’s Day with the aim to empower them and give platform.
