Key Highlights: Literature and New Varieties
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the event featured two significant milestones for the region’s floriculture scene:
1. Educational Launch: A new guidebook was released, detailing essential cultivation techniques for Cymbidium orchids to assist aspiring local growers.
2. Naming Ceremony: In a highlight for the floral community, eight new Cymbidium varieties were officially named. Shri D.D. Bhutia christened the first variety “Singkham,” followed by seven other varieties named by esteemed guests:
o Sakambari, Sumnima, Maya, Tashi Dilay, Binayo, Khushi, and Demajong.
A Message of Passion and Perseverance
In his keynote address, Shri D.D. Bhutia shared reflections from his career, specifically his tireless work on the Buddha Park project in Ravangla. He spoke warmly of his passion for beautification, recalling his successful effort to introduce tulips to Ravangla for the first time.
