Gangtok:25th Nov: Himalaya Darpan, Journalist , Amber Gurung, conferred upon ‘ YN Bhandari Best Journalism ‘yearly Award 2025 by Chief Minister PS Tamang ,here today at Manan Kendra, celebrating the National Press Day.
At the programme hosted by Information and Public Relations Department,Govt of Sikkim,Gurung thanked the Govt for it.
While speaking to the gathering of media and Govt officers,Amber Gurung referred to Khagendra Pradhan as his mentor.And attributed his success to him during the beginning of his career from 2002,in Sikkim.
‘As a Journalist I have been presenting the vision of Chief Ministers so far to public.Feeling proud to receive Award from none other than CM today.’ Gurung described the Award as the peak of his achievements ,in the challenging profession.
‘There is no seniority or juniority in the Journalistic profession, according to Gurung.’He expressed gratitude to all the members of press here for affection for the last 21 years of his career.He also took an opportunity to thank Himalaya Darpan HQ Siliguri and particularly those colleagues serving it’s Sikkim page .And expressed gratitude to his family for tolerating him!
Other awardees included Lalit Dahal North East Webshots for reporting on Climate Change ,Hem Subba on Human Rights and Bhawani Thami for Women issues,Suraj for Rural reporting.Khagendramani Pradhan was awarded in absentia for translation and writing with many more .
