Tribal Status for 12 LO Communities: Once Reviewed Ethnographic Reports are received State will submit to Centre: PS Tamang
Gangtok,3rd July : The Committee constituted for preparing a Report justifying the demand for grant of Tribal Status to 12 left out Communities, has come up with It.The high level committee meeting was chaired by CM PS Tamang.
CM ,describes report as the one providing strong evidence backed responses,fulfilling all the criteria.’It will be submitted to centre once reviewed by the concerned,he stated.
All the concerned have been asked to submit finally reviewed report within a week ,in the given format ,along with suggestions / additions if any .
The Communities looking forward to be recognised as the Tribals include ,Bhujel,Gurung,Jogi,Khas,Kirat Rai, Kirat Dewan Yakha,Majhi,Mangar, Newar,Sanyasi,Sunuwar(Mukhia), and Thami.
Their representatives who attended the meeting, included Ministers,MLAs,Other representatives,Chief Economic Advisor to CM Dr MP Lama in Secretary Social Welfare Sarika Pradhan and other officers.
