SWC Celebrates 45th Foundation Day
Gangtok:8th April:Sikkim Women Council celebrated 45th Foundation Day ,here today.
The programme started with offering khadas at the portrait of the founder the then First lady of Sikkim ( late) madam Trithi Taleyar Khan.Wife of the then 2 nd Governor of Sikkim, she foemed a group of ladies and inspired them to work together to give back to Society. In this way the SW Council was formed.
Secretary to SWC,Tashi Yuden Bhutia, said the Council started by the then First lady of Sikkim, is a source of inspiration. We have really zerved the society. The SWC has been functioning on its own without any funding .
Sharda Pradhan,said ‘ Even union Ministers like Maneka Gandhi also appreciated our work when she was on an official tour to Sikkim. We initiated starting of the Working Girls hostel in Deorali.And did many other works for the society.
Cake cutting was done and the celebrations concluded.Members visited the ex president pf SWC Paru Lama , Deorali to wish her on the foundation day and appreciate her contributions to the Council also
The Woen Council is for empowering women ,Social Service and Networking.
