
Pakyong District Reviews Progress Under NCORD and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) meeting was held at District Administrative Centre, Pakyong.
The meeting was chaired by District Collector, Pakyong, Rohan Agawane, in the presence of ADC Pakyong, Sangay Gyatso Bhutia.
The committee reviewed the agenda and action points from the previous session, assessing progress on critical issues such as drug abuse prevention, control measures, and the implementation of joint action plans. The meeting also deliberated on curbing the open sale of tobacco and liquor within 100 metres of school premises and discussed innovative approaches to strengthen ongoing interventions.
The District Collector provided suggestions and guidance on the issues raised, while stressing the need for strict compliance with committee directives. He instructed members to present a compliance report in the next meeting and reiterated the core objectives of the committees in addressing drug abuse, trafficking, and the consumption of tobacco and alcohol.
Additionally, as part of the NMBA initiatives, a plantation drive was also organised by the Social Welfare Department at the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong. The drive reflects a unique effort to combine anti-drug advocacy with environmental responsibility, offering a meaningful avenue for youth engagement and social transformation.
