Gangtok:27th Dec; CM PS Tamang , attended the State-level Pre Tamu Lochar Celebration 2025 held at Karungthang Secondary School, Yangang Constituency, Namchi Distt on Saturday ,organised by the All Sikkim Gurung Tamu Buddhist Association.
CM extended greetings and best wishes to the Gurung community.According to him , As an integral part of Sikkim’s diverse society, the Gurung community has made invaluable contributions to its social, cultural, and economic life.’
‘From agriculture and animal husbandry to administration, defence services, education, trade, arts, music, and public service, their role is evident in every chapter of Sikkim’s progress. For centuries, they have preserved culture of the community with utmost dedication.Gueung

‘Gurung community has given brave soldiers who defended the nation, administrators who governed, teachers who shaped the future, artists who enriched culture, and entrepreneurs who strengthened the economy. They have always preserved culture with pride and discipline, the language, traditions, attire, music, and institutions.’
CM added ,’Our Government has consistently supported the Gurung community through inclusive policies that promote cultural preservation, educational advancement, and socio-economic development. Initiatives aimed at safeguarding traditional language, customs, and institutions reflect the government’s respect for the community’s rich heritage. Going forward, the government remains dedicated to strengthening these efforts by expanding opportunities in education, skill development, entrepreneurship, and cultural promotion, ensuring that the Gurung community continues to progress while proudly preserving its unique identity.’
