
Gangtok:14;th August: CM PS Tamang Chaired the meeting held to review and deliberate on a series of important presentations concerning transformative urban projects planned for Gangtok.Others present included Bhoj Raj Rai, Minister, Urban Development Department (UDD), Chief Secretary R.Telang, HODs, senior officials, and concerned from the departments.
Three major projects were discussed in detail:
1. Public Utility Centre at MG Marg
2. Ridge Park Development Project
3. Proposed Cable Car System for Gangtok
CM PS Tamang said , ‘During the session, we discussed critical aspects. Collectively, these projects form a foundational component of the Sikkim Urban Vision 2047—a strategic roadmap aligned with the national goals of Viksit Bharat and our 2Sikkim. Together, they address core urban challenges through a balanced approach that integrates sustainable mobility, enhanced public utilities, recreational green spaces, and culturally sensitive commercial development.
These are not merely infrastructure upgrades they represent our shared vision for a resilient, inclusive, and culturally vibrant Gangtok. As we move forward, these initiatives will shape a modern, accessible, and people-centric capital city that reflects the rich heritage and future aspirations of Sikkim.
