Gangtok, 11th Dec:Women , Child in Senior Citizen & Divyangjan Welfare Department celebrating ‘Women’s Rights Day, here at MG Marg, focused mainly on women empowerment,on Wednesday.
They highlighted the theme: ‘Your Voice has power -Your Safety is our Promise’.
The women were asked to ‘Break the silence against violence when in distress!And not to be afraid to speak up for themselves.’State Govt is aspiring to add to safety and security Sikkim is already known for.The One Stop centre run by Govt was highlighted for women victims of violence.
Istrila Gurung i, Call Operator 181 helpline or generated awareness ,verbally and with the help of pamphlets published by the department about Mission Shakti,’A hub for empowerment of women – Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS).
The most helpful provision for helping women has been projected as Women helpline 181 and Women Helpline Control Number :03592-232181.This has been done with the objective to provide 24×7 telecom service to women victims of violence. It also provides information about Support services , Govt schemes available in the area affected women reside. They also help out violence affected women by referring them, to get intervention of police, hospital ambulance service and district legal services .
Sikkim Govt aspires to empower women through various schemes,including ‘Sankalp’ the hub expected to remove the gaps in Govt actions for women,it aims at social change favourable for women and United women ,to help them achieve their potential.Through this women will be helped to get digital literacy,go for entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.
