Bhanu Puruskar is Invaluable to me: S D Dhakal
Gangtok,20th August: Minister RDD ,Arun Kumar Upreti presented Bhanu Puruskar to bureaucrat cum author here today,on the occasion of Nepali Bhasha Manyata Diwas.The award ceremony had to be postponed from 13th July Bhanu Jayanti to this day due to the mourning period for Sano Lama one of the Founders of Nepali Sahitya Parishad,the award giving authority .
Recipient of prestigious Bhanu Puruskar,SD Dhakal,interacting with media ,said , ‘I was encouraged by my Nepali language teacher in School,Dr Shobhakanti Thegim ,who is no longer living.She appreciated my creativity and asked me to keep it up as she thought it was good!
I have been awarded many times but this one ‘Bhanu Puruskar is really special and invaluable for me.It is different.It also speaks about my creativity being recognised and evaluated ,’ said Dhakal.
When asked about the Language movement, Dhakal said ,’ It i was 80 years back that the Nepali language was asked for.But the mass movement can be said to be 32 years old.’
The then CM Nar Bahadur Bhandari and MP DK Bhandari ,got the language recognised. The Nepali language issue was raised in Parliament by Mrs DK Bhandari .Then CM NB Bhandari ,visited different important cities in the country including Dehradun ,I too went along .The need to get Language included in the 8th schedule was discussed far and wide .In between while Prem Kumar Alley was working in favour of ‘Manyata’ another issue came up it was suggested that instead of ‘Nepali’ we should ask for ‘Gorkhali’ so we took documents and continued.’
Dhakal ‘s message to Nepali speaking is not to wipe the ‘Sindoor’ and pull out Potey of Mother Tongue,not to distort not to miss any vowel or consonant,use them in their original form and make language stronger.
It is to be mentioned her that Dhakal is said to be author of 9 books so far.
