Gangtok:26th Feb: CM PS Tamang attended the 31st Foundation Day of Akhil Sikkim Khas,Chhetri,Bahun Kalyan Sangh as the Chief Guest.Addressing the gathering at Rangpo in CM Tamang said, he was delighted to attend the celebration of the 31st Foundation Day of the Akhil Sikkim Khas Chhetri Bahun Kalyan Sangh . ‘The occasion symbolized the unity, dignity, and collective strength of the Chhetri–Bahun community and the entire Khas society.
This day will be remembered as a proud moment when the Khas identity resonated with renewed confidence and purpose’
CM described the occasion as a golden milestone in Sikkim’s journey of unity, identity, and progress. And added ,’The Khas community forms a strong pillar of Sikkim’s development. When communities stand together, the state advances with greater strength, and Khas Day stands as a shining example of that spirit.
As a big surprise gift to KCBs , CM announced that the only airport of Sikkim , Pakyong airport will be renamed after the freedom fighter late Shri Trilochan Pokhrel(KCB community).It was done as a tribute and honour to the immense contributions of the Khas community in public service, politics, literature, education, security forces, entrepreneurship, arts, and social leadership. ‘Their dedication and commitment have significantly shaped the social, cultural, and administrative fabric of our state.’

• 26th February declared an official Government Holiday.
• Land and ₹20 crore allocated for construction of Khas Bhawan in Gangtok.
• 5th October declared as N.B. Bhandari Jayanti (Birth Anniversary) – Government Holiday.
• 20th August recognized as a Government Holiday honoring Nepali language recognition.
• 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections.
• Formation of the Sikkim State High-Level Committee for inclusion of 12 left-out communities in the Scheduled Tribe list.
• Launch of N.B. Bhandari Fellowship providing up to ₹50 lakh for higher education in top global universities.
• Appointment of Nepali Primary Teachers and strengthening of Nepali language in governance.
• Continued efforts to uphold dignity, identity, and equal opportunity for all.’
‘Our guiding principle remains Unite and Serve. When the Khas community progresses with dignity and recognition, it enriches the unity and collective strength of Sikkim as a whole,’ said CM.
CM appealed for unity and shared heritage .He said, ‘Let us continue to build a Sikkim that is united beyond caste, strengthened by brotherhood, and proud of its shared heritage.’
