Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Inaugurates 13th International Tourism Mart
Gangtok,14th Nov:’ Sikkim is hosting the International Tourism Mart for the 2 d time.Since PM Narendra Modi has come to power North Eastern Region has been progressing,particularly Tourism.Local economy has been developing.So all the International and National stakeholders are here ,as also diplomats and bureucrats.We want to make the region known far and worldwide,’said CM Khandu.
CM Khandu expressed hope that the 2 day mart is successful and has good impact.
Reacting to a question raised by journalist CM Khandu stressed the need to compare the conditions earlier and now in NE .He also referred to Sikkim Tourism and praised HomeStays flourishing.CM Khandu said , Centre’s intervention has been there to market NE tourism !
MP IH Subba,reacting to and road connectivity as an obstacle in the way of tourism industry a,disclosed that within 2-3 years Sikkim will have railways upto Rangpo.And about alternative Highways he had a meeting today and the outcome is positive.
.Minister for Tourism Bhutia, was hopeful about opening of roads to Lachen and Lachung with tourist destinations by December totally.He expressed hope of having flourishing tourism industry with community participation
Secretary Ministry of Tourism,V Vidyavathi, in her introductory address highlighted the purpose of ITMs.’ Idea is to bring in businesses and stakeholders to feel for themselves,all about the NER.’ She stated that 19 country representatives are participating.The region is different in its topography and has sustainable way of life.She also talked about different technical sessions to be held and guests to visit different destinations.
