CM has shared ,’ Seven years ago, 10th of August marked my personal freedom, the day I was released after being held unfairly but now, it means something far greater. Today is Aama Samman Diwas – a day to celebrate the true strength of Sikkim, our mothers.’
CM said further, ‘When I was unjustly kept away from home, my thoughts would always return to one person, my mother. Her silent pain, her sleepless nights, and her unshakable belief in me. Her faith became my shield. It made me realise something important, that no victory in politics, no change in government, no revolution is possible without the love, prayers, and courage of a mother.’
‘Today, I chose to dedicate Jan Unmukti Diwas as Aama Samman Diwas and I feel overjoyed that what was once remembered as my day of freedom will now be remembered forever as the day we honour our mothers, because no legacy of mine could ever compare to theirs. The legacy of a mother is bigger than any throne, title, or achievement. It is priceless, timeless, and the greatest legacy a society can ever celebrate.’
‘As Chief Minister, I want to reaffirm that SKM’s governance will always honour and empower our mothers. Whether it’s financial support through Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, dignity in public spaces with breastfeeding pods, or opportunities in leadership and entrepreneurship, every step we take is built on one truth: when we empower our mothers, we empower Sikkim.’
‘For me, this day is deeply personal. It’s my way of saying thank you to my mother, and to every mother in every home across Sikkim. Your love is our foundation. Your strength is our future.’
‘Aama Samman Diwas is more than a celebration, it’s a promise. A promise that Sikkim will always stand for its mothers, just as they have always stood for us. ‘
