Gangtok:8th Aug: Regional Tibetan Youth Congress,marched in a Rally today. They said it has been ‘dedicated to honoring the supreme sacrifice of Martyr Lobsang Palden, popularly known as Pawo Lobga Rangzen.’
‘He offered his precious life through self-immolation to awaken the conscience of the
international community and remind the world that Tibet remains an occupied nation whose
people continue to struggle for Tibet independence,’ according to RTYC.
The RTYC has ‘ issued’ the following demands to the Chinese government, the United Nations, and the international community:
1. On 2nd July, at 6:00 pm local time in front of United Nations Headquarters in New York City, Pawo Lobga Rangzen made the ultimate sacrifice. We urge the United Nations to respond in a
meaningful and formal manner by addressing the grave human rights situation in Tibet
and the circumstances of that compelled his sacrifice.
2. Accountability for Tibetan who are still driven to non-violent Self-Immolation: The Chinese government must be held accountable for the policies and repression that have driven Pawo Lobga Rangzen and more than 170 accounted brave Tibetans to the act of unimaginable self-immolation protest.
3. Withdraw Ethnic Unity and Progressive Law 2026. The law stands no relevance as per the international law and human rights values.
4. Close colonial boarding schools in Tibet and stop seperation Tibetan childrens from their parents.
5. Communist China has begun constructing the world’s largest hydropower project on the Yarlung Tsangpo River (known downstream as the Brahmaputra in India and Bangladesh) on the Tibetan Plateau. International critics, human rights groups, and downstream neighbors label it illegitimate or “illegal” due to the annexation of Tibet, unilateral water diversion, and forced relocation of local populations without international treaties ( this has been protested by them), according to Information from RTYC .
