Gangtok:22nd July:Two Spokespersons of Citizen Action Party, Mahesh Rai and Albert Gurung have been arrested . Consequently the party workers have been demanding release of both the Spokespersons ,staging dharna some of the ladies were heard sloganeering ‘ Sikkim ko chora lai chornu parcha’, asking for release. The protesters near Distt Court,have been carrying posters ‘The Law must serve justice -nor Politics’ and more such.
However,Political Secy to CM cum Ruling party Spokesperson Bikash Basnet,has said, ‘ They have been talking baseless ideas.They secured hardly 6%votes in the last election.We dont consider them as opposition party even.Only to mislead public they have been talking of financial crises in the State.’
The duo have been arrested only after non compliance to 2 notice(s)/ offer given to them to be part of Investigation, as a written complaint was registered against them. Accounts branch , Police HQ, employee complained of ‘unauthorised access, fabrication and circulation’ of the internal official matter,on social media.
It has been alleged that they circulated internal directions ( Police accounts section)related to preparation of salaries on SM.
On refusal to comply -co-operate, Investigation officer approached Court ,with the result non-bailable arrest warrant has been secured’ They have been arrested in connection with the investigation of CID Police station case number23/2026 dt.12 July ’26, registered under section(s) 353,336,61(2) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sahita’23 read with 66D of the IT Act 2000,’ according to DIG Tenzing Loden Lepcha IPS.
