Gangtok:28th June: ‘ One must know his language,it is pur identity.Lets work together for preserving our language and Culture.We are not here in Darjeeling for politics.We have our own political field.You do your politics,’ said Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang .He was addressing the gathering at the Kirat,Khambu Rai cultural festival ‘Ubhauli’in Darjeeling.CM was accompanied by Minister UD & HD,Bhoj Raj Rai.CM advised Darjeeling people to take help from Sikkim if required in languages ,as Sikkim has all the academic facilities in regional languages of the State.
CM said ‘ He was happy to attend the Kirati Khambu Rai Cultural Festival 2026 and celebrate the sacred festival of Sakela Ubhauli in Darjeeling today . Prominent among others present included MOS, Govt. of West Bengal,Bishal Lama, MP Darjeeling, Raju Bista,MLAs and more.
CM has congratulated the Kirati Khambu Rai Cultural and Research Society (KKRSS) for organizing the wonderful event, which celebrates and preserves the rich language, culture, traditions, and identity of the Kirati community.
:Sakela reminds us to live in harmony with nature, honour our ancestors, and strengthen the values of unity, gratitude, and mutual respect. Preserving our language and cultural heritage is our shared responsibility and our greatest gift to future generations,’said CM .
‘Though Sikkim and Darjeeling may be separated by administrative boundaries, we remain united by our shared language, culture, traditions, and history. Let us continue to strengthen this enduring bond,’ added CM.
CM encouraged ,young generation to take pride in their heritage while embracing the opportunities of the future. May our culture, language, and traditions continue to flourish, ‘ CM said finally.
