Gangtok:23rd June:The Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim convened a meeting to brief the Electoral Roll Observers appointed for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 ,on Tuesday, at his Office ,Baluwakhani.
Electoral Roll Observers ,Anil Raj Rai, Secretary, Rural Development Department for Namchi & Pakyong District and Tushar Nikhare, Secretary, Planning & Development Department for Gyalshing & Soreng District attended the meeting.
The Chief Electoral Officer briefed the Observers on the progress of the ongoing SIR-2026, including house-to-house verification, distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms, digitisation of forms, and other revision activities being undertaken across the State. He also apprised them of the roles and responsibilities of Electoral Roll Observers in monitoring the revision process and ensuring compliance of Election Commission of India’s instructions.
The Observers were informed about the three scheduled visits to be undertaken during different stages of the revision process, namely preparedness assessment, review of claims and objections, and final roll readiness. During these visits, they will assess the functioning of election machinery, review field-level implementation, interact with stakeholders, and submit independent reports as prescribed by the Election Commission of India to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and Election Commission of India.
The CEO emphasized the importance of ensuring a transparent, inclusive and error-free electoral roll and urged all stakeholders to work towards the successful completion of SIR-2026.
