Gangtok:13thJune: Chief Minister PS Tamang, accompanied by Minister for Buildings & Housing Department, Bhim Hang Limboo, Chief Secretary R. Telang, Secretary-cum-Principal Chief Engineer Chandra Vijay Basnet, departmental officials, AAI officials, and CISF personnel, visited the Sikkim Guest House located near Bagdogra Airport to assess its present condition and explore possibilities for its renovation, modernization, and better utilization.
Highlighting,the importance of the assest in question CM said, ‘Spread over approximately 28,800 square feet, the property holds immense potential and can be developed into a valuable asset for the people of Sikkim. Owing to its strategic location near Bagdogra Airport, it offers significant opportunities to strengthen the State’s hospitality infrastructure and provide better facilities for visitors, guests, and officials’.
The Guest House is owned by the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) and is presently leased to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It is currently being utilized by personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) responsible for the security of Bagdogra Airport.
‘During the inspection, we carried out a detailed review of the existing infrastructure and discussed the scope for renovation and upgradation of the facility. Our aim is to preserve and revitalize this important State asset while enhancing its functionality, appearance, and long-term value’,said CM
The concerned departments have been directed by CM ,to explore suitable measures for its redevelopment and future utilization so that the property can serve the people of Sikkim more effectively and contribute meaningfully to the State’s growth and development.
