Gangtok:19th April:MP Rajya Sabha,Seema Dwivedi and Vice President Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Neha Joshi , on a day long visit to Sikkim, interacted with media here. The duo highlighted the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and how it would have benefitted all particularly women ,due to 33% reservation.
‘It was a Black Day,when the opposition tried to stangulate women by making the bill collapse.PM brought tthe amendment bill to give justice to women through reservation.The opposition dpes not intent to let women advance ever,’ said MP Seema .We are all very unhappy at this.Opposting women reservation bill was luke slapping them.
BJYM Vice Prez Neha praised Sikkim women for their rally in support of the bill.’ A small state luke Sikkim whete 40% women ate labourers could do it,,’said Neha.
About the impact of failure of the 131 amendment,she summed up 3 major points including ‘ Small States like Sikkim in other NEs and Telangana type all States in South would be now losing as well as the women in those States.Delimitatipn after Census,so the women representation to be given presently will not be there.543 seats in Parliament will remain same without increasing.So those aspiring to contest from increased seats will not be able to do so.’
This according to BJYM VP Neha is die to the reason that instead of discussing relevant points the opposition kept on focusing on Caste, religion based reservation,which is not provided by the Constitution.
They were non committal on whether bill will be brpught up again after the elections are over in a special way.
