Gangtok:26th March :Sikkim C.M .PS Tamang also leadsr of the House, stated on the floor of the House during the 4th session of the 11 Sikkim Lwgislative Assembly that the reservation for different categories seats for 9 Urban Local Bodies’ Polls 2026 ,has been done on the basis of Survey done and Population. He was reacting to the allegations by certain opposition( not represented the Assembly) that the seat reservation was not proper.
CM said, seat reservation % populationwise is as /- ‘ ST population – 48 661-28,%,SC11954-6.88 %,OBC State-34756-20%,OBC centre-29562-17%,Others-47718-27.45%.
Latest data of Survey is as given below-
ST-15 in 2015,18 in 2021 and 25in 2026,SC 2015-6,2021-6,2026-6,OBC State-2015-92021-9,2026-11,OBC-centre 2015-15,2021-6,2026-8,UR-2015-12,2021-12,2026-13.So the ST are more die to population .So CM Tamang said there is nothing wrong.
