Gangtok:25th March: First time ever the digital Self enumeration Census .’ It is 5th Census ,post merger in Sikkim .It has option for Self -enumeration, from1st April to 15th April’26,’ anaunced Director State Census Operations,Karma Bonpo ,here on Tuesday.The Census will .carried out in Two phases.
‘The First phase involves House listing and housing census.Self -enumeration can be done. Later when enumerator visits you give the digital id generated on your mobile.It will be uploaded accordingly by them, ‘added Bonpo.
‘House listing and Housing Census exercise will begin from 16th April and will go on till 15th May ’26.We have deployed 2459 enumerators for Census,now.’added Bono further .Mobile App for the same has been launched for S-e
Director Census has appealed to all the concerned citizens ( in the State) to provide correct information ,go for Self -enumeration excercise.It will be helpful for people going out for jobs ,service and any such duties,usually when enumerators visit them the concerned persons are not available at home.So this will avoid any problem and save time also.’He also stated, that the Census is governed by Census Act 1948 and 1990 .IT Act.Census data remains confidential.It cant be used for any other purpose.So not to worry.Portal-se.census.gov.in visit the site for the S-e from1st April 2026.
. While Secretary Home Deptt ,Tenzing T Kaleon, informed that State is prepared for the Census . CS had requested to take advantage of digital process . Just upload the App/ portal register , a 15 digit self is would be then generated. Subsequently, one can upload the information asked for . Finally it will generate a digital receipt , which when shown to enumerator for further official record ,on his/ her visit will complete the exercise in the first instance. Citizens are legally bound to give information .
However,the authorities indormed that the Second phase – Pipulation enumeration will start on February 2027.
