‘Doko ko Chahari ‘ Short Film by Sujan Samjel bags First Prize in SIFF
Gangtok:19th March:A young Film Maker, Sujan Samjel, has been conferred with First prize, today by the Chief Minister PS Tamang during the inaugural programme of International Film Festival.
Speaking to this reporter Sujan Samjel ,described how he was feeling and film.
DM : Your film has bagged first position in the SIFF Short Film Competition,just tell us about your reaction.
SS: I as the Writer – Director of the film ,am happy- overwhelmed.More so ,becuase its here ,I am excited and emotionsl too.The film is very personal to me! It was world premiere for my film.
DM: What is the film about?
SS:Its about a how Youngster/ Child feels.It is about what he hopes for and imagines.It is also about generational poverty. Actually it is made for educational purpose .
DM: Anything or any reference to Sikkim?
SS: I have included Forest Shaman( bun jhankari) and importance of education.
DM: How long did it take to complete the ‘Doko ko Chahari’?
SS: After I completed my Mass Communication from Darjeeling I took up a job in Noida.
There I had developed the story.The film production started in 2023 and post production etc was over in 2025.
DM: What inspired you to make this film?
SS: When I took up job in Noida I felt how important it was to get opportunities while away from home.So from a child’s perspective I did it.
Sujan Samjel was presented a cheque of Rs 3 Lakhs and a citation,amidst huge applsuse from the audience at Manan Kendra here today.
