Gangtok:15th March: ‘At around 06:30 hrs, SHO Singtam Police Station, 9Kishor Chettri along with police personnel from Singtam PS conducted surprise inspections at Divine Detoxification Centre Society, Namthang (South Sikkim) and AWAKE Detoxification Centre, Saramsa (Pakyong District).
During the visit, 32 persons were found admitted for detoxification at the Namthang centre and 48 persons at the Saramsa centre. The team reviewed the daily routine, management system, records, hygiene, and overall functioning of the centres.
The inmates were interacted with and motivated to remain committed to the rehabilitation process and to lead a healthy, drug-free life. The authorities were also advised to strictly follow prescribed guidelines and ensure proper monitoring and care of the inmates.
