Gangtok:12th March: Sikkim, stepping into becpming a Film destination.
Chairman Sikkim Music,Drama Dance and Film Board,Tashi Tshering Bhutia,said hosting International Film Festival, here marks an important milestone in the State’s efforts to strengthen film culture and provide a meaningful platform for creative talent. He said ,’Since CM PS Tamang ‘s govt came to power, Sikkim has been emerging as a hub for creative economy,through his patronage .He appealed to everyone associated with film industry to participate in 5he fest and the programmes.
Chairman IPR ,Ashit Rai,said the IFFI is being organised at the time when Sikkim’s 50th year is being celebrated.It will provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas,while making Sikkim a popular destination for making films.
Secy IPR Annapurna Alley,said the festival being organised in association with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and NFDC in collaboration with State and Centre Govts ,will start at Chintan Bhawan,with the screening of a film by Satyajit Ray titled ‘Sikkim’.It will be fillowed by (regular )shows at Inox theaters WestPoint Mall.A Film Baazar will be held on the sidelines,where training,workshops and lectures willl be the key features.Investment and film. bussiness opportunity for even budding talents .
‘ The Film Festival India will be starting from 19th March and will go on till 22nd March.It has been possible under the leadership ,guidance and supervision of CM PS Tamang ,’ said Communication Director for the programme,Yougan Tamang, who is also Press Secretary to CM ,here today .
On the whole it appears to be a programme for exchane of ideas between Sikkim film makers. with others.Exchane of ideas between Govt of India and NDFC . Professionals,can look forward to some investment,mentorship .
Prominent among others present included Nitesh Rohit, Marketing and Progrmme Director, R Mothey and officers from Department of Information and Public Relations.
