Mangan Police Station – POCSO Conviction
Gangtok:9th March:Mangan Police successfully secured conviction in S.T. (POCSO) Case No. 01 of 2025 (Mangan PS Case No. 05/2025 dated 24.04.2025) under the POCSO Act, 2012. The case was investigated by SI Suman Pokhrel, whose diligent and victim-sensitive investigation ensured the successful prosecution of the accused.
The case was effectively presented before the Ld. Special Court (POCSO Act), Mangan by Ld. PP Ms. Nimkit Lepcha and Mr. Sandeep Rai, leading to the conviction of the accused.
The Hon’ble Court has sentenced the accused to 20 years Rigorous Imprisonment under Sections 5(1)/6 POCSO Act r/w Section 64(2)(m) BNS, 2023 and 20 years Rigorous Imprisonment under Sections 5(j)(ii)/6 POCSO Act, with fines of ₹50,000 each, with the sentences to *run concurrently.*
The Court has also recommended *₹6 lakhs* as compensation to the victim.
The performance of prosecution & Investigating officer in this case is commendable and stands out as a model for professional Investigation and is a testimony to integrity & legal acumen.
